Each year, Camp Sunshine offers countless families the opportunity to put aside the stress and seriousness of having a child with a life-threatening illness and just have fun. It costs $2,000 a week for a family to attend Camp Sunshine, but thanks to the compassion of people like you, families like those youʼll see profiled below are able to attend COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.
Our daughter, Paige, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2008, just days after she and her twin sister, Abbie, turned 4. An X-Ray revealed a large mass that was obstructing her breathing, and we later learned that it was indeed cancer. Paige began chemotherapy and, while in the infusion room one day, we began discussing with another family how great it would be to find a support group of people who understood what we were going through. About a year later, we visited Camp Sunshine for the first time, and from the first day we were hooked. It was nice to see both sisters having a ball in the Tot area, and to see our bald little girl fit in and feel happy all week. The team building activities for adults give us so much joy. You go through most of the week and realize you havenʼt thought about cancer in hours. Itʼs such a wonderful break.
